Staying Engaged You Are Not Alone Discussion Session
The proposed staff for this module include: an occupational therapist and horticulture specialist. The occupational therapist will provide comprehensive education and training to assist in allowing aging individuals to incorporate appropriate garden techniques into performance of activities of daily living increase healthy living. The horticulture specialist will presents lectures, slide shows and demonstrations on horticultural and vegetable gardens topics at the Senior Citizens center and at various retirement community group meetings. Lastly the horticulture specialist will provide direction to other personnel in the care and maintenance of the arboretum's plants and grounds. This particular module will take place outside the senior citizen center for educational and training sessions.
Aging persons will demonstrate an awareness of preventative measures in the home environment.
Intent: Will focus on strategies to avoid or manage chronic disease management to promote “aging in place”.
Objective: Participants will demonstrate an understanding and importance of preventative measures to increase healthy lifestyle changes at home.
